What is the role of a paramedic?
Emergency medicine is a system set up in order to save life and health of people. The system consists of emergency call centers (ECC), Emergency Medicine Teams (EMT) (ambulances of S type (Specialist) and P (Primary), Air Ambulance (AA) and Hospital Rescue Branches (HRB). Emergency Medicine Teams have the State Emergency Medicine marking, in addition ambulances have the marking of the rescue team type – the letter (S) or (P) in a circle.
Features of a paramedic
Paramedic provides fast and efficient help of an emergency rescue character in life-threatening cases, accidents and disasters by using personal protective equipment, as well as the principles of technical and emergency medicine. The main task of a paramedic is to provide first aid to people who have been injured or become ill. This assistance, in order to be effective, must be given as soon as possible.
Paramedic should be able to interact with other people, and at the same time he must be able to make quick and accurate decisions that can save human life. Paramedic should control his emotions, which allows taking effective and quick actions. Another important feature is courage in difficult and dangerous conditions, lack of fear of heights, sense of balance, quick reflex, vision at twilight and good visual memory. Other useful features of a paramedic are: perseverance, patience and accuracy.
